H&M blazer , T and flats, Massimo Dutti skirt, gifted necklace
On Friday Kenneth and I went for a small walk in the city and took along my camera and the new lens I got for my birthday. It's a 50mm F1.8 G-type lens for my Nikon D3100 and I couldn't be more happy with it! The colours in my photos are more vibrant, the details more visible and (very important for outfit photos) the background blurs out very nicely.  We are going to have so much fun together!

Othen than the new lens I also bought myself a little gift: this navy blue blazer. It's amazing, but I just noticed that it's a little wrinkled in these photos, haha. I guess that's what you get for wearing it all day every day! I have been seraching the stores high and low for a new blazer after my black one from F21 ripped. I feel like this navy blue one goes much better with my skintone and haircolour, but a little less with all my clothes...

Friday night was prom night! Kenneths student association throw a fancy party in a fancy old restaurant with men in suits everywhere! Kenneth looked so handsome in his. Gosh, I wish it were prom night every night! I  had such a great time and finally met a lot of Kenneths uni friends. My fave moment of the night was the one where we suddenly lost sight of everyone and just started dancing in the middle of the dancefloor. Can you believe that after three years this was the first time we danced together? unbelieveble, I know. But heavenly!

How were your weekends?

My Sweet 20th

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I remember when I turned sixteen. I felt like I had to grow up and become responsible. When I turned 18 I was pretty scared about getting my drivers lisence and going to college. Can't believe that's already two years ago. Today I turn 20. No biggie. What I expect from this year? I expect it to be awesome. I expect to start photography classes and grow this crazy hobby into a more professional thing. I expect to fly across the pond and have an amazing time exploring America. I expect to meet new friends, maybe even through this blog. I expect this blog to grow and to become an even bigger part of my life. But my sixteen year old self already knew that not everything lays in your hands.

I haven't planned to celebrate this event big time. But my friend Jolien and I did go out for a special birthday shoot over the weekend. I have an overload of photos to share today so I hope you enjoy them!

H&M dress, cardy and flower, Veritas tights, vintage clutch, Accessorize necklace

I am not the only one who's getting presents today!

The winner of the £50 GCOGH Giveaway is... drumrolls...

Natasha from Paper Crowns! Congratulations!
I'll send you an email soon with all the information you need.

Zara Dress & cardigan, Veritas tights, Footwork boots, Stradivarius belt

Yesterday Laurein and I took a train down to Antwerp after school to attend the pressdays. I hadn't planned on this and so I wore what I'd normally wear on a schoolday and didn't bring my own camera. Laurein snapped these pictures of me in an alley right before a fresh rainshower poured down on us. Hence the frizzy hair. The weather has been terrible for days now and I really hope we get some sun on sunday (what's in a name) because I have my birthday shoot planned! Yay!

In more exciting news, I got the internship! Thank you so much for all your loving support. All those crossed fingers worked really well! You guys are incredible! The interview felt a little weird though. Both my future mentor and I didn't really know what we we had to say and I felt completely awkward. If all job interviews go like this then "oh boy". I got asked about my grades and the experiences I had during this years internship in the elderly home and was then told that I absolutely had to get my drivers license before I started the internship. Again, "oh boy"! At least I still got about 10 months to get it right? Right. #ginormousfears

First Outfit Of The Day

Monday, April 16, 2012

CKS dress, Zara cardigan, Veritas tights, Footwork boots, drugstore legwarmers, Kinto glasses
I have to admit something. This is probably the first time I'm sharing an outfit with you guys on the day that I am wearing actually  it. I took these pictures just an hour ago on our driveway (hence the garage port) between two rainshowers. It's a is a pretty important day for me as a college student. Today I have to go and apply for next years internship! I am SO nervous I could pee my pants! I chose an organisation that you could compare to a regular employment agency but that focusses on people in the lower classes of our society. The jobs they offer all have something to do with the quality and durability of the enviroment. As a social worker I get to do the intakes and follow-ups of the workers. I'm pretty excited about it and really hope I get accepted! Would you guys keep your fingers crossed for me? It would mean the world!

Have you entered my current giveaway yet? You can win £50 shopping budget to ASOS, GAP, J.crew, etc...

11 more things you may not have known about me

Thursday, April 12, 2012

I have been tagged a few times the past weeks. I was awarded with the "tell me about yourself" award by the lovely miss Bonnie from Mini Me Style. Emily from Life, etc tagged me in her 11 things post and so did Faith from Sweetened style. Thank you so much girls! I already have done an 11 things post in the past, and I got a lot of positive comments on it so I thought I'd do one again! I needed a break from all the outfitposts that passed the revue the last couple of weeks. Here it goes!

1. What is your favorite pet?
I love bunnies. There was a point in time where I had 13 little bunnies! My dad had build a bunnie run in our backyard where could play outside and they even had their own playhouse. The run was huge, I tell ya! Right now I don't have any pets. We do have family dogs though, 2. This is Dasha, a German Shepard. isn't she cuuuuute!? She's also my fave photo subject, haha. I like to call this photo her "Are you there again with that camera? duuuude, You are annoying!"-face.

2. What would be your dream home?
As some of you might know I am/used to be a fervent The Sims player. I build my dream house every day! I would love a large backyard with a fish pond. And a  willow tree too! And my house itself would have a walk-in wardrobe (duh!) and a heat system under the bathroom floor, haha. I'd love a one of those white houses, inside and out. Full of little teasures from all over te world, because you all know too that I LOVE to travel!

My friends new tattoo
3. Any tattoos or plan to get one? What's the story behind it?
No, I don't have any. There's something about the idea of getting one that scares me. They are for like... forever you know? I think tattoos can be really pretty, some of my friends have one (or more)! I believe they must have a meaning, though. A friend of mine got one a week ago that says "Our love never dies ". It's for her little sister.

4. What is the best story you have about a relative?
You should read our lovestor, it's pretty good. Especially the part where Kenneth said I'd never be better than (his now ex-)girlfriend! See who's been dating who for three years now, huh?

5. Favorite pizzatoppings?
Barbeque chicken! Who's with me!? Now I want some, thanks for this question. Haha.

6. Who was your date to the prom?
Kenneth was. And all my classmates and their boyfriends were too! We went out for dinner beforehand. That's where this rather crappy photo was taken. The photo they took of us at the dance was even worse! Why do they always use such a strong flash?

7. What is the best thing you can cook?
I live with my parents, I'm only 19 you see, so I don't get to cook my own meals very often. I would like to change that though. And I would also love to learn how to bake pies! Other cherry pie lovers out there?

8. Favorite quote?
When I was a gamer geek back in highschool (there, I said it!) my favorite quote was "The future was with fate, the present was our own" from Sir Conan Doyle aka the writer of Sherlock Holmes. Right now I don't really have one. I see a lot of quotes on Pinterest but I haven't come across one that really is me.

9. I just gave you one million dollars and you must spend them in the next 24 hours. What would you do?
I'd buy a beam machine. Then I'd beam myself to NYC and shop till I drop. Then on to ikea to buy a closet for all those new things and then I'd beam myslef to the bank to give what's left to my parents and family.

10. If you could play any instrument. What would you pick?
The piano! Without doubt. I have a friend that plays a little, his fave song in Viva La vida from Colplay. I always get the chills when I hear someone play. Kenneth actually has a piano, and used to play. Now the only song he can still do is Brother Jacob.

11. What made you start a blog?
I have been building websites and playing around with html and css ever since we got internet about 8 years ago. I loved to have my own place on the Enet and shared it with my friends. Why I started this particular blog? Well, I suppose you can say that was because of Dorien. I never told her this before, haha. I made this blog in june 2009. Back then it was named Go Home My Dear and I had no idea how to gain an audience and what to write about. Then I saw Doriens blog in a magazine feature and it totally hit me. I wanted to blog about fashion too! I deleted my archives and 256 posts later, here we are.

In Bloom

Monday, April 9, 2012

Hi everyone! Hope your weekends were all wonderful? I spent three whole days on the couch with the boyfriend, watching Matt Damon and Leo DiCaprio running around like badasses in The Departed, The Adjustment Bureau and just for the sake of those awesome sound effects we rewatched Inception as well. It was rainy and cold outside the whole time. I believe those April showers have finally caught up with us. Yuck! Between two heavy showers I went outside to snap some photos of the only blossoming tree we have in our garden. Hope you aren't too freaked out about the last one, haha? I kind of think spiders are cute, the small ones at least. Am I weird?

And as you guys can see, that tree is not the only thing blossoming today. I added a little bit more colour too this blog. I know I change the look of The Ginger Diaries too often, but I got a little bored by all that gray. I chose to work with turquoise this time since it's my second favorite colour. Purple doesn't do well in layouts you see. And the orange sidebars add a fun pop of pastel, which is awesome since it's spring.

This morning the skies still looked threatening gray but who cares when there is huge fleamarket happening a mile down the road? I sure don't! I scored some old license plates for bikes that I plan on DYIing with. Yes, license plates for bikes, not for cars. Apparently we had those in the 80s. They have pretty pastel colours which is perfect for spring! Hope to show my carfty side to you guys soon. It mustn't always be about outfits, right? Right!

A weekend in: Germany

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Treis-Karden, walking along the river banks. The hills in the back are covered in vine yards!

An old fortress in Cochem
Cochem
Windbeutel: warm cherries, pudding, whipcream and vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Koblenz, at the point where the Rein and the Moessel meet.
Somewhere in March Kenneth, my parents and I took a few days off and went to Germany. Eventhough Germany is really close (hello neighbours!) I had never been there before, apart from two times we visited the Christmas markets in Düsseldorf and Cologne. This time around we drove a little further and stayed at Treis-Karden. We visited the neigbouring city Cochem and a few more miles down the Moessel was Koblenz, a energetic city with thousands of shops and pretty places. The weather wasn't very cooperative, but apart from the gray skies and cold wind we had a great time!

I'm heading out to the Fashion Museum tonight to attend a blogger event and will spend the rest of the weekend behind my books. Hope you guys have a great weekend and make sure to check back here on the 10th for something pretty awesome!

Our dog doesn't like white jeans

Monday, April 2, 2012

Zara sweather, Old Navy purse, Vero Moda jeans, H&M shoes, F21 earrings
Can you tell I left my camera in the wrong mode when we took these? It was still set for bright sunlight, and there wasn't a single ray of sunhsine on this particular moring. All photos came out really dark but I tried my best to fix them, hence the grain. Good thing it conceals the dog paw that's on the jeans somewhere, haha!

I can't believe it's April already! Time is truely flying. April means good things. Like that the biggest and best fleamarkt ever is coming to town, Easter, Easter eggs and best of all: my birthday is coming up! Soinks! I'm turning 20 in 22 days. In my head I have a bleuprint ready for the most awesome party ever, featuring all my gals, cake pops, smooties, good music and a bbq on a sunny and warm evening. If only...
In other, equally awesome, news: we booked our summer vacation! Remember how we were going to NYC and DC last year and how everything got cancelled last minute due to Irene? Well I hope we are in better luck this year! Can't wait to start planning but for now I'll better start saving.
